On a quiet corner of San Francisco's historic Dogpatch District, Piccino offers a focused menu of appetizers, salads and pizzas, rounded out by a single daily entree special.
The Funghi Pizza ($15) comes with roasted mushrooms, garlic, and Crescenza, a superb soft-ripened cheese from Bellewether Farms. It can be topped with a farm-fresh egg for extra decadence. Beautiful Fresh Trout ($26) served recently were sourced from Lassen County's McFarland Springs where cold clean headwaters of a natural spring nurture the farmed fish. Ample enough for two, the huge hand-harvested trout came to the table stuffed to the gills with onions and apricots on a bed of chicories.
